Hi there,
We have a couple weeks left to create our final project for the semester. However we should get started now. Is there a way we are wanting to split up the project or how to tackle it.
Suggestions?! Has anyone created a website before?
Katie
Hey Kate,
ReplyDeleteSorry that I haven't responded in a while, life has been so crazy these past couple days. I think the first thing that we need to do is actually create a website, and start loading our lessons and digital stories onto it. I'll work on creating it tomorrow after work. I'll post a link after that...hopefully if all goes well.
We also need to finish our final concept map and post that onto this blog too. Who hasn't created it yet? I think that we all need to take turns making it and I know that I just did it. What else do we want to put on that?

ReplyDeleteI just created our website, but I have not really done anything to it.
ReplyDeleteThe link to the site is https://sites.google.com/site/westernmiclassroomkitchen/
Our group e-mail account that we need in order to get access to edit the website is wmuclassroomkitchen2012@gmail.com. I sent you an e-mail with the password that will allow you to enter our group e-mail account. Let's start to work on our website now, so that we won't have to cram to finish it at the last minute. :)
I started working on our website...I uploaded my lessons and digital story. There are 3 tabs that that I didn't do anything to...I think that we could each work on one and create 2 new things to put onto the web-site. I need a lot of help with this...so much more that we have to do!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI can make some mock-newsletters for that portion of the webpage. I was playing around with the page, trying to figure out how to make a calendar of events. If I can figure it out, I'll do that too.
ReplyDeleteYeah...that would be fine. It doesn't have to fit exactly into those categories, they were just a part of the template. I was trying to figure out how to add more things to the website...I was looking at other website examples from the class and they have a bunch of tabs, but I don't know how to do that. I'm trying to think of other things to add to the website...what are some new things that we want to incorporate?
ReplyDeleteHow about a "Try this at home" section with ways to incorporate lessons into things kids can do at home, like measuring ingredients for a recipe or creating a shopping list and budget for groceries etc. Maybe a spelling list section and links to math, spelling, and cooking websites that are kid-friendly/safe.
ReplyDeleteAAH! Sorry I have not noticed these!! Let me catch up on all of this and I will more than gladly help out! I was out of town with no internet connection! I saw the website link --- thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteThis evening I am going to upload all of the things that you have done so far. I believe that my first concept map wasn't used, so I am the one that has to create the final concept map.
ReplyDeleteSO...I just worked on the website. We have to load the lessons and digital stories throughout the pages, but I think that we can just load them on one thing to start with and than separate them when needed. ??? not really sure what I'm doing. LOL
ReplyDeleteI still can't quite figure out how to add more tabs to the table on the left side, so that we can have more pages of information. I think that we each have to do two.
What did everyone write their lessons and digital stories about...that may help us plan our website out. My lessons are researching country facts and the food guide pyramid/plate, and I did my digital story on table manners and etiquette.
My lessons are on:
ReplyDelete- how to write a recipe
- Favorite Cuisine Data collection
My digital story is on peanut allergies or food allergies
I am so confused oh how to upload my stuff.....
ReplyDeleteIt's really confusing...
ReplyDeleteFirst you have to log onto our google e-mail, you need to go into our account. You should be able to click on our name at the top. Next you want to click on the product button on the left side of the screen and find where the website link is available. Once you click that, you should be able to go into our Classroom website and edit and upload things. Be sure to save anything that you load.
I hope this helps...I'm going to work more on my page tomorrow. We have soooo much to do!
I am sorry I have been so behind! I am wrapping up a huge project for another class right now, and will dedicate a day this week to uploading and working on our final concept map. We also need new resources correct?
ReplyDeleteI've been struggling too. My family is moving and my husband was seriously injured at work so it has been rough. I will be working on the website today and Thursday. Let me know if there is something specific you want me to do.
